cat vaccinations at Mercy Pet Clinic

Prevention is the Best Medicine

One of the best precautions you can take with your cat’s health is making sure that they stay up to date on their vaccinations. There are plenty of illnesses cats can develop, and a few of them affect humans as well. This is why Mercy Pet Clinic offers a full range of cat vaccinations so your kitty can enjoy a long, happy and healthy life.

Cat Vaccines

FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)

The FVRCP vaccine is administered every three weeks from the time a kitten turns six weeks old to the time it reaches 16 weeks of age. Once the cat reaches adulthood, the vaccine is administered yearly.

FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus)

The FeLV vaccine is administered when a kitten reaches nine weeks of age. Once the second round of this immunization has been given, a booster shot is administered one year later. After that, this vaccination is given every three years.

The rabies vaccine is administered when a kitten reaches 12 weeks of age. After this initial vaccination, adult cats receive the “pure vax” form of this vaccine each year.

Heartworm disease is incredibly serious and widespread. It poses a danger to all cats whether they are indoor or outdoor cats. We highly recommend heartworm prevention to all cat owners. Heartworms are a type of parasitic roundworm that live in the arteries, lungs and hearts. Once a cat becomes infected with heartworms, there is no known way to treat them, so prevention is key.
